1. HALF DAY HOI AN TOUR (CODE: HHA)

Explore Hoi An Ancient Town with a short boat trip across the river brings you to the boat builder’s yard and woodcarvers as well as a pottery and brick-making village. Return to the town and during a leisurely discovery tour on foot you will visit some of the historic merchant and community houses, places of worship and famous bridges. Back to hotel.

2. FULL DAY TOUR DANANG & HOI AN (CODE: FDH)

Pick up from your hotel transfer to Cham Museum, visit & enjoy 1-hour cyclo ride along Han River with stop over local market. Continue drive to visit Marble Mountains, the caves temples, shrines and pagodas can be reached by climbing steep steps (please wear appropriate shoes). Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, explore the ancient city of Hoi An during a guided walking tour through the historic city center, boat trip to a boat builder’s yard and woodcarvers as well as a pottery and brick-making village. 3. HALF DAY EXCURSION TO TRA QUE VILLAGE (CODE: HTQ)

Ride a bicycle to a local farm in Tra Que village. Introduction to the history of the village, the cultivation of the vegetables as well as discovering about the use of vegetables in traditional Vietnamese medicine. You will take a trip around the vegetable garden and join the farmers in preparing the land and fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake. Continue doing activities such as: raking, sowing, watering greens, picking greens and many more gardening activities. Then spend the rest of the morning working the land in the time honoured way, before breaking to prepare lunch with a local family. Your lunch will consist of many local delicacies including ‘tam huu' spring roll, Banh xeo or the local pancake of the people from the middle region. After your lunch bid farewell to your host family before riding back to Hoi An.

5. FULL DAY TOUR TO HUE – THE ANCIENT CAPITAL (CODE: FHU)

We will depart over Hai Van pass to Hue - the 3,5-hour drive often is regarded as an adventure of its own kind, the narrow road snaking over the pass, windings it's way down to the plains. Stop at Lang Co Beach offering many photo opportunities. Transfer to local restaurant for Vietnamese set lunch. Arrive Hue, the provincial capital of Thua Thien Hue is one of the several ancient imperial capitals in the country, which has been kept almost intact until today. It blends with the magnificent mountains and landscapes covered with forests, and gardens grown along the banks of the Perfume River. Then we will make a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest place for religious worship in Hue. This 21m-high tower is one of the most famous structures in Vietnam. transfer for lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, your first visit today is to the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden City: Construction of the Hue royal city started in 1805 under the reign of King Gia Long and was completed in 1832 under the reign of King Minh Mang. The city was built in an enclose of 5.2 sq. kilometers on the northern bank of the Huong (Perfume) river. As far as architecture is concerned, the royal city of Hue was built in the style of the French military architect Vauban in combination with an Oriental palace architecture. Continue to visit Tu Duc Tomb, the largest and most impressive of all tombs. Drive back to Hoi An.

POST CONFERENCE TOUR 

JOINING THE FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES IN HUE (From June 3 to June 11, 2008)

Day 1                           Hoi An - Hue

Breakfast. This morning we will travel by car along the coast Hue. The scenic 4-hour drive via Hai Van pass offers spectacular views of the mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages. Hue is the ancient imperial city of Vietnam and has been declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1993. Hue is famous for it’s imperial architectural treasures from it’s glorious days and is beautifully located on the shores of the Perfume River. Lunch at local restaurant.
This afternoon we will visit the Imperial Citadel, which dates back to the 18th century. Within the Citadel is the Imperial Enclosure all the official functions were taking place and the Forbidden Purple City which was for the personal use of the Emperor only. Vietnam was ruled from this city until 1945, unfortunately was most of the ancient city destroyed during the War but the remains are proof of the glorious past.

Day 2                           Hue

Breakfast. Each ruler of the Imperial City build his own tomb during his reign and this morning we will visit the most extravagant of the mausoleums. We will visit the Tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh, which has an unique European touch. We will then continue to the Tu Duc Tomb, the largest and most impressive of all tombs. You have chance to attend to one of activities of Festival Hue 2008. Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon we will make a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest place for religious worship in Hue. This 21m-high tower is one of the most famous structures in Vietnam. We will then continue by boat to the Minh Mang Tomb, which is renowned for its architecture. Late afternoon return to your hotel. Accommodation at Hotel, Hue.

Day 3                           Hue - Departure

Breakfast. Transfer to Danang Airport and departure with international flight.

The traditional art troupe of the National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts will perform not only Korean traditional music, but also Vietnamese traditional music with Korean musical instruments.

 
Jazz ensemble Kimotion (USA)

The ensemble Kimotion includes 22 members performing Jazz with a combination of Rock and classical. Its special art programme for Hue Festival with the participation of traditional instrumentalists and well-known artists of Vietnam will bring interesting experiences to the audience.

It was the first group in the Russian Far East which promotes not only traditional classic and folk dances but modern, jazz and contemporary dances.

The stilt walkers have travelled through Belgium and a large part of Europe like The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland and Romania.

Dragon & Phoenix Project, Festival Hue 2008

A large scale Dragon & Phoenix installation will grace the Huong River for Festival Hue 2008, featuring two golden dragons and two beautiful Phoenix birds as a centre piece.

 

The Blues singer COCO YORK

Through the introduction of Consulate General of United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City, famous female singer- Coco York and instrumentalists will participate in Hue Festival 2008.

 
Orches trio Zurich and Camille Huyen
Formed in 1985, Orches Trio Zurich with Noriko Kawamura – violinist; Fumio Shirato – double bassist; and Walther Giger –guitarist applies extreme precision and an experimental mind to its interpretation of both traditional and contemporary  music.
